HEY ROOMMATE CALL ME -ARN

Henry Rollins

I’ve been digging deeper into his thoughts, but I think I’ve been under the wrong impression. Despite being very outspoken, he actually has a heart. Which I find misleading considering his background.

Mostly his talk about the military turned me off. But his ideological views are on point.

He’s still a fuckin’ G doe.

The above link is a song my friend rapping as Hotep (to be satisfied, at peace) and I never would have guessed he was this creative upon first impression. He was quiet, laid back, friendly and humble. Now that we split paths he’s somewhere on a Ship doing dirty work.

It’s interesting how much undiscovered talent ends up in the military. I’ve met so many artists, poets, athletes, comedians, and intelligent people who joined with different motives, yet here they are putting up with the service to get some benefits mostly because our economy went to shit. It bothers me that I’m in the same boat as these guys (punny) but my friends could have achieved way more than I could dream.

To describe a few;

Somebody who scored a damn near perfect score on their ASVAB and qualified for a top secret clearance to be a nuclear engineer… Many of the fresh-out-of-high school men who attempted the hardest military training in the world known as BUDs but couldn’t continue due to an injury mid-training. I could go on and on.

It really baffles me how they decide to join the military instead, when they could have had all the glory as a civilian. Is that humbleness or plain stupidity? I can’t seem to figure it out. Either way if I ever had a eulogy read at my funeral it’d better say that I had no greater pleasure in serving my country than meeting some great fucking people while doing it. All the dead heroes never get the amount of recognition that the idiots get on MTV when they damn well deserve it.
